Norah Taylor

Norah Taylor is an Ottawa based emerging artist that has recently graduated from the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at the University of Ottawa. Primarily an oil painter, she has also explored the field of mixed media and collage in her practice using materials such as fabric and sewing, found photographs and magazine imagery. She uses this imagery in a way that transforms its original intent by isolating and rotating the image and removing it from its context and creating her own.
Her current works have combined her interest in mixed media and painting by originating as a collage from which the paintings are created. With their specimen-like imagery, these recent paintings deal with her personal views of religion and natural selection and how these can affect one’s views of the natural world and what this means in terms of perfection or imperfection.

Norah is continuing to paint in her studio at home to expand her body of work and is always experimenting with different materials and collage.
